Ayurvedic Massage, or Abhyanga, originated in India and is a rhythmic massage with one or two therapists. Fluid movements are used to massage warm herbal oils onto the body. Abhyanga massage cleanses the deep tissues, opens the subtle channels and increases vitality and longevity of the body. Traditional Ayurvedic massage includes marma point therapy. Students will learn the most important marma points to address specific client needs. Students will also absorb the fundamental principles of Ayurveda and the art of looking at each client uniquely in order to provide a balanced treatment that is suitable for each dosha (vata, pitta and kapha.) Spas and healing destinations across the world are offering Abhyanga as a regular treatment. The skills learned in this training can be used to enhance your existing practice and for personal wellbeing.
Required Material(s): Please bring a set of sheets, two hand towels and wear clothes you don’t mind getting oily.
